Another entry in the long tradition of pinup girls, this screensaver displays about 15 pictures of swimsuit and lingerie models. We found the image quality to be fairly good throughout. Users can set the interval between images, change the order and speed with which they appear, switch the image position, and modify transition effects. No soundtrack is provided. Computer users seeking simple eye candy may find this an appealing download.

Of the many screensavers based on the hit Matrix films, this one stands as one of the more captivating examples. In 3D Matrix Screensaver: The Endless Corridors, you find yourself walking though a mesmerizing maze of hallways as you open one door after another. We think the program's unpredictable twists make it all the more compelling. For example, behind the doors, you'll find everything from pyramids to skylines to matrix errors. The graphics certainly were better than acceptable, and movements were smooth and free of glitches. You can adjust the screen resolution, music and sound effects, door options, and texture quality, although you must register if you want to bring Agent Smith into the mix and rid yourself of the nag screen. We don't think any fans of the Matrix flicks will regret decorating their desktop with this screensaver.

It's a good bet that Pamela Anderson, star of Baywatch and various Internet videos, is one of the most widely ogled women on the Web. This screensaver continues the tradition, offering a range of photos of the actress and model in bikinis and lingerie. We found the images' appeal marred by JPEG overcompression, however. The program offers an extensive feature set, allowing users control over transition effects, image size, background, and the interval between images. A few special effects such as sepia tone are included, although no soundtrack is provided. Any image can be used as wallpaper on a computer's desktop, and users can leave a virtual sticky note on the screen while the program is running. The screensaver does come bundled with a separate Internet Explorer toolbar, so be cautious if you don't want this extra component on your machine. All told, avid Anderson fans may find this an appealing download, but other computer users are likely to look elsewhere.

Batman Begins 3D Free Screensaver

This action-packed screensaver serves up scenes of the Caped Crusader doing what he does best, though it's probably not a good fit for older machines. You might think Batman Begins 3D Screensaver is a Hollywood-sanctioned promotional tool to shill the film of the same name, but it's actually a full-blown action sequence in its own right. During installation, the app attempts to put an extra toolbar on your machine, but you can opt out with no problem. Upon launch, the app displays the familiar Batman logo and plays the theme song from both the television and movie series. You'll see a masked criminal up to no good on a rooftop, as the city lights twinkle behind him. Soon enough, Batman climbs over the ledge and proceeds to pummel the thug in some intense hand-to-hand combat. Customization options include the ability to change Batman's suit, add or remove evildoers from the scene, and enable those trademark pop-up bubbles that say "Ka-pow" and "Bam." We should note that in our tests, the app ran quite slowly on older machines, so some PCs might not be able to handle it. Otherwise, any fan of Batman will probably find this free screensaver a nifty pickup.

Sex in the City Screensaver

The screensaver displays five photos featuring the four main characters of the famous sitcom Sex in the City. Unfortunately, the screensaver features no soundtrack. Neither did you find any customization options. The Settings dialog only displays the logo of TBS. The screensaver is worth installing only if you are a Sex in the City fan.

Relaxing Ocean Free Screensaver

Though the soothing sounds and waves of the ocean are supposed to be relaxing, this screensaver also manages to irritate a little at the same time. Relaxing Ocean includes five beach scenes and five different ocean sounds. Each of the beach scenes is set to a specific time of day that can be synchronized with your own clock. Unfortunately, a limited demo prevents this good-looking screensaver from earning a higher rating.

The demo version only offers one of the five beach scenes, and only one of the sounds. The only setting you can adjust in the demo is the volume. The extremely large size of the installer (75MB) indicates that those extra scenes and sounds are included and disabled for demo users. The one scene available in the demo looks very good, and we were unable to tell where the video repeated itself.

While the sound and video are both high quality, they are not synced well, at least not in the demo. You'll often see a big wave crash and then hear the noise several seconds later. The coolest part of the program--the ability to sync the beach scenes to your local time--is the most interesting feature available, so it's unfortunate that the demo doesn't allow a taste of it. Overall, Relaxing Ocean Screensaver is far from the worst trip you'll ever take, but it's probably not the beach vacation of your dreams.

As you'd guess from its name, the screensaver displays about twenty photos featuring beauties wearing chic lingerie. The photo quality is quite high. However, the program offers absolutely no options to configure. You can neither change the interval between images nor put your favorite ones on the Desktop. When you move the mouse, the screensaver display a menu that lest you shop for underwear, change the screensaver, or quit. If you like beautiful woman and chic lingerie, the screensaver is worth downloading especially since it is free.
